Net Neutrality: Govt report to come shortly, here’s what’s occurred so far

Based on news reports, the last report on Net Neutrality, submitted by telecom section panel is set to be made public in a day or two. We take a glance at the way in which the problem has panned out over the last couple of months.
In few days time, the report will be put on the web site, you get and can see it.
Besides the six-member committee made by DoT this year in January, sectoral regulator TRAI had also invited comments from stakeholders on problems like regulation and Net neutrality of OTT services like Skype and WhatsaApp. Net Neutrality.
Unexpectedly Net Neutrality became a buzz word in India while TRAI’s paper didn’t cause much of an indignation in the beginning, when reports came about Airtel Zero programme and Flipkart’s determination to be a partner in it. A web-based effort SaveTheInternet.in went viral with lakhs of folks signing up the request. Airtel defended its programme saying it wasn’t breaking web neutrality as it’d help widen Internet access to people who cannot afford high-priced data, although while Flipkart after pulled away from Airtel Zero packs. Airtel apart, Facebook found itself pulled into the Net Neutrality argument as well thanks to its own Internet.org programme which is just another zero-evaluation platform. He claimed that Internet.org could coexist with principles of Net Neutrality.
