Israeli company gets spat that is legal on Indian techie over ISP advertising injection

A security blogger was hit with a gagging order by an Israeli company after he linked a sneaky advertising injection and its technology by his ISP.

This JavaScript obviously tried to add some kind of toolbar.

The script was coming with an IP address linked to Bharti Airtel Limited.

Thejesh posted details of screenshots and the event as part of efforts to get to the base of the problem, to GitHub, a cooperation platform for web developers.

In response, Thejesh received a cease-and-desist order in Mumbai from Israeli company Flash Networks via their lawyers. It needed the blogger to delete his posts which, attorneys contended, broken Flash Networks’ copyright, in addition to offering a potential breach of Indian computer crime laws.

Its technology enables “operators to increase network speed, optimise video and web traffic, and create over the top sales from the mobile Internet”. Telcos and iSPs can get sales from search, over the top content, and targeted marketing.
