Google getting into home cleaning?

The technology giant has hired the engineering team from the shortly-to-be defunct Homejoy, a startup , which enabled you to reserve house cleansers online and is set to close. That’s raised speculation that Google will soon be looking to begin supplying things like referrals to plumbers and electricians.

It was not unsuccessful. Folks enjoyed it but they’re being compelled to shut down partly due to the exact same problems that plagued Uber in terms of who is an employee, who is a contractor,” CNET senior editor Dan Ackerman told CBS News. “So, they saw a chance to pick up nearly a ready made ball of services which may increase their website.”

A Google representative confirmed that “a part” of the Home joy team was joining the firm. However, the firm said it was not “sharing added details beyond that.”

Ackerman said the growth into house services would not be so much about producing sales as “being form of a one-stop store, keeping you from leaving that type of Google sphere and going someplace else.”

They may be the latest huge technology firm, following Amazon, to reveal an interest in this space.

“I guess they could eventually charge for positioning of advertisements or supply you with a better answer in the event that you’re truly one of their signed up contractors,” he said. “But I do not believe they’re searching to make money from this right now.”

In addition, it fits in with what Google does so good.

“What’s Google’s mission statement? It is to require the world’s information and arrange it and present it to you personally,” he said. You do not have to go to some other site.”
