Former US Secret Service Representative Imagined in Added Bitcoin Larcenies
A Secret Service agent who stole cash captured in the investigation of subterranean drug bazaar Silk Road by the authorities is suspected of stealing cash in at least two other cases, based on court filings.
The section encouraged the bureau to transfer the funds elsewhere.
“Sadly, the US Secret Service didn’t do thus and the funds were then snitched, something the US, Secret Service just found after it was ordered by a court to pay some of the seizure back to affected claimants,” a team of prosecutors wrote in an associated motion. The Bitcoin in question was went in July 2015 but just found lost in December, the affidavit said.
Bridges and the Secret Service’ lawyer Steven Levin declined to comment.
In the preceding case, Bridges confessed he framed someone else for it, leading Silk Road leader Ross Ulbricht to plan a homicide and stole cash from Silk Road accounts. Ulbricht is currently serving a life sentence.
