Facebook ties up with Kaspersky Labs, to rid malicious software

Facebook declared on Tuesday it’s been using a brand new security tool to help find and remove malicious software for users of the largest social network in the world.

Facebook said it was working with Kaspersky Lab, strengthening a software executed with other online security companies including ESET, F Secure and Trend Micro.

Pottinger said the software uses “a blend of signals to help discover infections and get the malware off of your pc for good, even whenever malware is not actively distributing junk or dangerous links.”

Kaspersky Lab’s Kate Kochetkova said in another blog post that Facebook users in many cases are targeted in internet fraud schemes including “phishing,” which are falsified e-mails made to get receivers to download malware.
