TBE is acquired by Facebook?

Two Enormous Ears has been obtained by Facebook, making the whole “Spacial Workstation” for Cinematic VR and 360 sound free for all users. Facebook has made this software suite part of their own, offering the public a download including their Facebook 360 encoder program in addition to programs for three sound programs and standalone video player.

What Two Enormous Ears has made – and is part of Facebook – is a set of tools that plug in to sound editors and the video you use . This includes Reaper, Nuendo, and Pro Tools HD.

Each of these programs has its own folder in what is currently called the “FB360 Spacial Workstation” – which, again, you can download now at no cost. This is primarily for content originators, but if you are having trouble getting your own private 360-degree video to upload correctly to Facebook, you may also need to take a look – the encoder will be your pal.

You can think of it as an advanced panner that helps you place sound in 3D space with room and binaural simulation algorithms. Behind the scenes, the panner plugin codes the sound into a format with metadata that’s subsequently used to build the complete combination.”
