Project Loon, an initiative to bring internet connectivity to developing countries and remote regions with hot-air balloons, is partnering for a national testing set to commence with three leading Indonesian telecom operators. Top executives from XL Axiata Telkomsel, and Indosat made an appearance in the statement (and Google cofounder) Sergey Brin, in California.

Indonesia is the fourth state following Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil, where internet access will air down to smartphones. About 20km over the Earth’s surface flies, forming one big communications, and going with the wind to reposition array.
The team is expecting to launch more than 300 balloons over the duration of 2016, to blanket the whole world. Loon will begin taking customers willing to join the beta job as soon as they manage to cover the Southern Hemisphere.
