Amazon is spending $500 million to make web videos a little better
Amazon’s cloud infrastructure business, AWS, Amazon’s cloud infrastructure company, is purchasing Elemental Technologies, the businesses merely declared in a press release to the backend video service.
Though Amazon declined to comment on such amount, the Info reported the news, pegging the cost at $500 million.
Elemental’s technology helps entertainment businesses and large media like CNN, ESPN, or HBO choose their video – initially meant for program or cable – and reformat it to work on background and mobile.
It powers programs like the ScoreCenter of ESPN or HBO Go.
This news also comes not long after Apple and Cisco announced a brand new venture which will make their programs work as well as iPhones better when they are connected to Cisco networks.
