But now and just like instant messaging was once frowned upon in the office is a vital manner coworkers socialize, the social networking platform could be on the cusp of recognition at work also. The Menlo Park, California-based firm has declared a group of cooperation and societal software named Facebook On the Job that’ll start in 2016.

“There is a real possibility to transform the way we work collectively and finally enhance the service we supply to our customers,” Hanley said.

The way it works is much like Facebook for buddies. You connect to co-workers but without updates and daft pictures on what you are listening to on Spotify. Both worlds will be totally different, which means you will not need to worry about what you post on Saturday night showing up at Work on Facebook.

A lot of the communication that will occur at Work over Facebook now occurs through e-mail. Facebook at Work allows for more cooperation, based on Hanley. “It empowers us to convey and to discuss and to share and solve issues in ways that conventional tools like e-mail only can not,” he said.

Julien Codorniou, manager of international platform ventures for Facebook On the Job told the Journal that is because e-mail is hierarchical. “E-Mail is an inherently top down process of communicating meant for spreading advice as opposed to changing it,” he said.
