Twitter lifts limits on direct messages between users
Twitter lifted its character limitation Wednesday for direct messages between users, saying it’d help to make the private side of Twitter “more strong and interesting.”
Because of this, these private messages will have the 140-character limitation which applies to tweets.
“While Twitter is mainly a public encounter, Direct Messages let you’ve got private conversations about the memes, news, moves and events that unfold on Twitter,” Agarwal included.
“Today’s change is just another huge step towards making the private side of Twitter even more strong and interesting.”
For the time being, the changes apply to Twitter users with Android and Apple cellular apparatus, online at twitter.com or on the TweetDeck program, although Agarwal said the change “will continue to roll out globally during the the next couple of weeks.” Limitations will apply to those.
The move comes as the California firm faces renewed pressure on its shares as it seeks a fresh chief executive and is finding slow increase in its user base compared with other social networks.
