Russia blocks pages in Wikipedia
At the education of the national watchdog service in Russia, internet providers in the state have started blocking access to Wikipedia for the Russian-language users.
Nevertheless, Wikipedia users in Moscow said access was still accessible both through fixed telephone lines and mobile services, Tass news agency that was reported.
Watchdog service Roskomnadzor on Monday said it’d sent an address of the webpage in the Russian Wikipedia that included advice that was prohibited on a narcotic drug.
“The efforts to transfer the post at another URL the executives of the Russian section of the web encyclopedia had made previously didn’t restrict the users’ accessibility to the content prohibited by court,” a spokesman said.
Wikipedia uses a safe protocol that will not allow it to be possible for suppliers to identify what pages the user is reading or what information he or she’s transmitting or receiving.
