Researchers create worms that infect Macs
Apple computers are considered to be more protected than a PC, especially in regards to the firmware. Seems like, this might not always be accurate any more. Trammell Hudson researchers Xeno Kovah and Corey Kallenberg have disclosed that Mac has same susceptibility as Windows PCs. In demonstration to Wired, scientists have disclosed that a phishing e-mail or click on a link on a malicious website can undermine the computer.
The researchers also disclosed that these exploits are not easy to find as security ‘applications does not read the firmware and reinstalling the system does not remove the issue.
The company has patched one use as well as the research workers have apparently alarmed Apple about the matter and partly patched another.
