Observe the World Rotate on Nasa’s New Website
Nasa has found a brand new web site at which it is possible to see pictures of the complete, sunlit side of the Earth as it rotates.
Each day-to-day series of pictures will reveal the Earth as it rotates, so showing the entire earth over the span of a day.
The brand new site also features an archive of EPIC pictures which can be searched continent and by date.
The camera shoots a string of 10 pictures to create various science products.
“The successful resolution of the EPIC camera is someplace between 10-15 kilometer,” said Adam Szabo, DSCOVR job scientist at Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland.
Since Earth is incredibly glowing in the darkness of space, EPIC has to shoot quite brief exposure images (20-100 milliseconds).
The considerably fainter stars are invisible in the backdrop as an effect of the brief exposure times.
