Shortly after KickassTorrents, the popular torrents streaming web site was taken down, clone sites with names like kat.am and kickasstorrents.sites had propped up, but it appears these are now down too.

Whoever owns file sharing site KickassTorrents was indicted for copyright infringement associated with the..distribution of more than $1 billion worth of video games, pictures, music recordings and other content in America. Within days of KickassTorrents aka KAT being taken down, naturally, other urls had began cropping up.
Torrent sites with names like kickasstorrents.site, kat.am, and urls with kickass in the name had come up. We’d noted previously that a few of these sites were fairly up to date, with the most recent torrents being from anywhere between three to six days past, determined by the type. The web site is offline, according to reports.

With torrent websites, if one gets taken down, other shortly pop up to take its position as we had noted in an earlier bit, and it’s a cycle that never finishes. Given that BitTorrent relies on a peer to peer sharing system, and will not have a “central repository” of forms, getting rid of all content that breaks copyright is an impossible job. Plus the demand for this content, ensures that on-line piracy is really difficult to kill fully.

The US criminal charge against KickassTorrents said the site offered “a refined and user friendly environment in which its users can search for and find copyright content ” that is protected by copyright. It was the world’s 69th most often visited site online.
The charge said officials could monitor and identify Vaulin from records supplied by Apple on his account that was iCloud.
