‘Interview’ Hacking Lawsuit:Sony to Pay Up to $8 Million

Sony pictures Entertainment Inc has consented to pay as much as $8 million.

The resolution with former and present workers and the Sony Corp unit was revealed in documents filed in federal court in Los Angeles on Monday.

Under the deal, Sony will pay as much as $2.5 million or $10,000 or $1,000

Sony has additionally agreed to pay as much as $3.49 million  to cover prices and legal fees, based on court documents.

Neither Sony nor an attorney for the plaintiffs promptly reacted to requests for comment on Tuesday.

The broad theatrical release of the film was shelved by Sony following the hacking, which attracted international interest and surfaced in November. The film was afterwards offered by it through digital downloads.

The strike, for which North Korean hackers were attributed by US officials, led to the internet distribution of sensitive worker data, e-mail and pirated copies of new films and wiped out huge levels of information.

The suit was filed shortly after by former workers who claimed by driving them to beef up credit monitoring to deal with their greater danger of identity theft, Sony’s neglect caused US officials economic damage.

In addition they said the data violation was an “heroic nightmare” for them and thousands of former co-workers.

In June, Klausner rejected Sony’s play to dismiss the suit, saying the workers could pursue their claims that Sony violated a California secrecy law and was negligent.
