Internet Service Provider!!

Our Internet connections continue to get quicker, but so has our thirst for more.

For example, Comcast, the country’s biggest ISP with its Xfinity brand, went from offering 50 megabits per second (Mbps) download speeds to 105Mbps downloads during that span. The firm is offering 150Mbps speeds for under $100 per month.

Such speeds would be more than sufficient, if all we did was browse the Internet, but we do not. Great quality sound can stream over a broadband connection that is pretty slow, but video demands tons of bandwidth; that is just going to increase as more people move from HD to Ultra HD 4K televisions and computer screens.

This survey does not quantify which ISP is most rapid. For that, read the yearly Quickest ISP narrative of PCMag. Satisfaction is dependant on survey respondents’ awareness rather than raw data and can be affected by other factors including price. For example, a respondent may be quite pleased with his connection speed, not because it is not so quickly but because it feels suitably slow for the cost paid. On the other hand, there are respondents for whom speed is speed, and they will not be met unless their link is blazingly fast, no matter the price.

ISP satisfaction is greatly affected by the access to alternatives. Respondents were asked if the broadband ISP they use is the only one accessible their region. On average, respondents who felt they had no alternative in ISP rated their supplier lower than those who’d options. Folks do not need to be pressured into a choice.
