The rate of internet penetration is to achieve the desirable amount regardless of telecom firms’ attempts to distribute services in the nation, a senior Department of Telecom official said.

Added Secretary at DoT, N Sivasailam valued efforts made by telecom firms to distribute services and mobile phones in the state but said net penetration has to occur at planned peace for which efforts are being intensified, as per statement.

Broadband connections in the state achieved 14.48 crore at the of February 2016.

The government is rolling out optical fibre networks to join 2.5 lakh g panchayats with high speed broadband by 2018. Lately, inter-ministerial panel the Telecom Commission also approved supplying a WiFi facility in hamlets through common service centres.

Sivasailam indicated that it’d require India close to three to five years to develop applications in local languages for program and mass communication. He expressed hope that skillful and adequate entrepreneurship would emerge in due course of time in India to undertake the job of software development in multiple local languages
