Google now manages 2 million takedown requests over pirated content
The foil report of Google demonstrates that more than two million requests are now processed by the search giant to eliminate links to pirated content from its search results daily.
TorrentFreak notes the firm received a whopping 65 million takedown notices from 5,609 distinct copyright holders in the previous month.
Many are duplicates or wrongly linked while a sizable portion of the requests really point to pirated content. A number of many of them additionally point to copyright holders’ own systems.
Google has formerly been asked by copyright holders’ organizations such as RIAA and the MPAA to crack down harder on illegally distributed content; by fixing the company’s search algorithms to lower PageRank scores for sites, it responded.
