Facebook to Open Its First Data Centre in Ireland
Facebook will build a data centre facility at the Clonee village in Ireland that’ll become part of the infrastructure that permits billions of people join on more, Messenger, Instagram and the social media platform, the social media giant announced on Sunday.
“Clonee, County Meath, will be the website for our latest data center.
The 227-acre site will soon be packed full of cutting edge technology, making it one of the very innovative, sustainable and efficient data centres on the planet.
“All the stands, servers, and other parts are designed and constructed from scratch as a portion of the Open Compute Project, an industry-wide coalition of businesses dedicated to creating energy- and cost efficient infrastructure options and sharing them as open source,” Furlong told.
Ireland has been the international headquarters of Facebook since 2009.
This may be the sixth data centre facility of Facebook. Other websites include Forest City, North Carolina Altoona, Iowa; Lulea, Sweden; as well as the first one in Prineville, Oregon.
Facebook has affirmed that it’d be constructing another data centre in Fort Worth, Texas.
