Facebook Messenger might get support for multiple accounts, SMS integration

“At Messenger we’re constantly attempting to create new means for individuals to communicate seamlessly with everyone,” said a Facebook representative. “Right now, we are examining the potential for individuals to readily bring each of their dialogues — from SMS and Messenger — to one place. It is a truly easy solution to get, see and reply to all your SMS messages in only one program. By selecting to get your SMS messages in Messenger, they are right alongside all of the other enhanced features that Messenger offers.”

As stated by the first advice, Facebook is now examining the SMS attribute with small Android users in america. Sadly, due to the deeper OS integration needed to make this feature work, it is not likely that iOS users will have the choice to use Messenger for SMS messages.

For all those oblivious, SMS was really part of Facebook Messenger but it was removed several years past because of low adoption in 2013. In fact, the business probably needed to drive Messenger adoption – something it did also by pulling on the functionality from the default option Facebook program in 2014.

Some users were seeing a fresh SMS Settings pane that enabled them to use Messenger as chief SMS client as the site Android Authorities noted.

The messages sent as SMS texts would subsequently appear as purple bubbles, instead of the common azure of Messenger, the site said. This colour change attribute is an optional attribute which can be enabled or disabled in settings.

SMS support isn’t the sole change. Facebook has also declared support for multiple accounts in the program for Android users. The new multiple accounts attribute is probably targeted at users who share their apparatus within the family or buddies.

Messenger for Android has added a brand new section called “Accounts,” which enables you to add and remove accounts on the program. Others will merely see tellings a message was received and not it is content.
