Facebook India’s first worker, Managing Director Kirthiga Reddy steps down

Facebook India’s Managing Director, Kirthiga Reddy, on Friday declared that she’s quiting from her present place to relocate to the headquarters of Facebook at Menlo Park, California.

Kirthiga Reddy joined Facebook as its first worker in India in 2010. Based on an update on her Facebook page Reddy said she’d be relocating to America in the next 6-12 months.

It’s widely supposed that this move could be due to the reverse to Facebook’s strategy to roll out Free Principles in India since the move comes after regulators in India introduced rules to stop differential pricing policies predicated on content.

Actually, answers suggested the Facebook upgrade by Reddy was the exclusive communication they’d received. Furthermore, the representative said, “During her time in India, Kirthiga wasn’t involved in our Free Basic Services attempts.”

Efficiently, the statement emphasizes that in Free Basics which necessitated shut liasoning with government powers – the MD was not involved in Facebook’s key growth market – India. That looks strange. Possibly the local direction of the marketplace could have helped manage the issue in a way that was better. Efficiently, the scathing letter from TRAI to Facebook would not have occurred either.

I recall several years back, when Facebook did not have an India office, reaching out to Facebook for the request to go to Menlo Park for acceptance by Mark Zuckerberg was required by an opinion. However, as per the statement from Facebook, Reddy was not involved in the actions around Free Principles in India.

Member of the board of directors and investor in Facebook Marc Andreessen was in the news lately for linking India’s resistance to Free Principles with its ‘anti-colonialism.’

We expect she finds the “right form of chance” at Facebook in Menlo Park in america, among the two areas she can call home. More significantly, we expect her successor is given more responsibility in furthering future jobs by Facebook in the India marketplace.

Kirthiga Reddy did her engineering in Nanded from MGM College of Engineering. She passed out as the next position in the University in 1992. When she was looking out for job opportunities, she was led to Yashwant Kanetkar, writer of the most popular novel in engineering schools in India – Let’s C. As an intern, she’d assist the writer with all the programming examples in his novel. It is been a remarkable journey for her taking over as the India MD and rising up to Stanford from Nanded, to joining Facebook.
