Chinese ecommerce leading Alibaba Group is looking at great opportunities to develop the company organically or through other means and is intending to enter India this year.

“We intend to enter the ecommerce company in India in 2016. We’ve been investigating quite attentively the ecommerce chance in this state, which we believe is extremely exciting on the backdrop of Digital India,” Alibaba Group President J Michael Evans said in New Delhi.

The organization said it’s assessing all chances to develop the business or look at any other matter which may come along.

Alibaba has made investments in Snapdeal and Paytm. Talking about the assembly, Prasad said: “We expect Alibaba will come and have a great footprint in India, for instance, expanding business of ecommerce (for which) they’re investigating the chance. I’ve said very clearly that Alibaba is quite free to come and enlarge its footprint in India.”

Sources who were privy to the assembly said Alibaba is quite keen to come to India in an extremely large manner, especially in the ecommerce section.

The organization is investigating the possibility set up shop with another person or whether to go on their very own.
