Dutch anti-piracy organisation uses new software to monitor illegal uploaders

Uploaders which are found will get a fine, based on Brein on its web site.

The organisation also needs offenders to pay damages due to uploading copyrighted content. Brein has received permission from The ‘Dutch Private Data Power’ to process private information within their new applications.

Brein acted on 16 instances of offering or possession of illegal digital content. While Brein has not revealed unique amounts, it mentions on its website that the settlement sum was up to EUR12,500 ($13,500) per wrongdoer.

In its fight against uploaders three torrent uploaders that offered their content on big sites have been exposed by Brein.

Additionally an important member of some other release group, DMT, was made to stop his upload practices.

Brein additionally says it’s found a usenet user that uploaded a substantial number of content that is prohibited. In line with the organisation 343 prohibited sites of which most were hosted by Dutch hosting suppliers were removed by it. Amongst them were 96 streaming websites and 63 torrent websites.
