Windows 10 disk images let users jump wait for November upgrade
With a disk image, users can create installation media — like DVD or a flash drive — for one off or multiple-apparatus migrations to Windows 10, or to reinstall the operating system on a corrupted copy.
That was the guidance given by many on Microsoft’s own user-to-user support discussion forums when folks asked why they’d really not seen Windows 10 1511. “I am running Windows 10 10240. The 1511 upgrade will not show up in Windows Update for people,” said a user tagged as Bob Marley 77 in a message Thursday.
Others proposed that he use the Media Creation Tool to construct a USB drive or DVD, then make use of the media to update an existent copy of Windows 10.
Not all Windows 10 devices will instantly recall the 1511 upgrade because, as it did with RTM in July, the access to 1511 is staggering. “The upgrade is rolling out in waves, beginning yesterday,” a Microsoft spokesman confirmed Friday.
Other systems have not been offered the 1511 upgrade for distinct motives. “If it is been less than 31 days since you updated to Windows 10, you will not get the November update right away; this will let you return to your previous version of Windows if you pick,” according to a FAQ about the November upgrade.
The upgrade — which Microsoft insists on calling the “November Update” — will reach present Windows 10 customers mechanically, as do all interim upgrades, like those issued each month to fix security defects.
