The Fight Against Cybercrime
In a survey of over 2,000 executives and workers in 250 organizations worldwide, the authors of the report found that all marketplaces and all businesses changed.
The most expensive cybercrimes were those carried out DDoS by malicious insiders and internet-based assaults.
Growing business expenses come as the price to hackers themselves is dropping, thanks to a proliferation of botnets that make starting DDoS attacks inexpensive and simple, as well as the easy sharing of tools and exploits on “black web” newsgroups and markets.
Based on cybersecurity company Incapsula, of starting a DDoS attack, the cost has plummeted to only $38 per hour. By comparison, “the real world price of an unmitigated assault is $40,000 per hour” for companies.
Another blessing to cybercriminals was the launch of data and applications from Italian surveil business Hacking Team.
While the affected software manufacturers, including Microsoft and Adobe, hurried to fix their software, specialists warned that users who don’t frequently upgrade their software are in danger and reported viewing several strikes in the aftermath of the hack.
