After Google was sold for $12, the organization is giving a compensation to ex-Googler Sanmay Ved, who was the person who owns the Google.com domain name for several minutes.

Ved considers there was a bug behind the casual purchase, and reported the issue to the Google Security Team. Technology firms usually have bug-bounty plans to give financial rewards to individuals who find bugs within their systems, but Ved said would rather see the money go to charity, and said he was not interested.

“I do not care about the cash, ” Ved told Business Insider. “It was never about the cash. In addition, I need to establish an example that it is individuals who would like to seek out bugs that it is not always about the cash.”

Google made a decision to give Ved a compensation, and because he is giving the cash to a charity – The Art of Living Foundation – the business even made a decision to double the sum it would pay out. Ved did not reveal the sum that was given, but it was “more than $10,000”.
