Security company uncovers cyber attack effort against neighbouring countries and India
Cyber Security company FireEye has released a report disclosing that India has become the casualty of an advanced capaign of cyber attacks over recent years.
Based on the report, the effort seems to objective advice about on-going border disputes and other diplomatic issues in nepal, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. The group supporting the operation, which FireEye considers is most probably based in China, sent spear that was targeted phishing e-mails including Microsoft Word attachments to its intended victims. These records included a script called and pertained to regional problems.
FireEye has found WATERMAIN action since 2011 and, over the previous four years, the risk group has used Watermain to target about 70 percent of which were in India, over 100 casualties. The group has targeted others and Tibetan activists in Southeast Asia, with a concentration on diplomatic, governmental, scientific and educational organizations.
MINDED assaults on organizations in neighbouring states and India are at present common. In April, FireEye disclosed the elements of APT30, a decade-long cyber espionage effort by suspected China-based risk performers that undermined a defence and aerospace business in India among others.
