New malware dupes targets with imitation blue screen of death

On-Line search engines are used by millions of internet users. To be able to support the vast levels of requests these search engines process and receive, search engine suppliers — such as Microsoft, Yahoo and Google — offer programs and marketing platforms for companies. Users see sponsored links set high up on a search results page, companies gain more exposure as well as sales is generated by the search engine.

Nonetheless, search engine marketing is, in addition, a place ripe for use and is used by cyberattackers to be able to create their own earnings. Some attackers also set up deceitful domain names which seem valid as a way to entice victims to input their account info.
Alas, many on-line ad schemes run through third party platforms and at times risk celebrities steal through the internet — resulting in malicious and deceptive links being shown on valid, domain names that are trustworthy.

A somewhat innovative and new effort has brought cybersecurity company Malwarebytes’ interest.

The group uses BSOD as a social engineering technique to reel in possible casualties. Attackers bidding was found by the security firm through Google’s AdWords advertising space on popular phrases, for example, YouTube key word to show their adverts on top of the search engine. Clicking on this particular advert results in a persuasive web page complete with the BSOD picture, although this link is supposed to visit the designated YouTube URL.

Others without much technical knowledge will probably be while some users WOn’t be deceived.

On the webpage, users are instructed to phone a toll free “helpline” to solve the BSOD problem.

Nonetheless, this isn’t unnecessary the ending of a narrative that is painful. Malwarebytes says innocent PC users could also wind up having bank accounts and their identity stolen rinsed of funds.

In this kind of effort, at least two domain names are filed to redirect users to the pages that were deceitful through IP addresses in Arizona.
