Netflix blocking tunnel broker to geo-content that is blocked

Before this year, Netflix clamped down on using VPNs (Virtual private network) and proxy servers used to get content accessible outside the land. Nevertheless, there are other workarounds to circumvent the system to get nonnative content.

One approach is called the tunnel broker, an online service that supplies users with a network tunnel. Hurrcane Electric, the world’s biggest IPv6 transit network, supplies a tunnel broker service free of charge, reports TorrentFreak.

It seems that Netflix is not unaware of the scenario, with reports indicating from getting its services the firm has been blocking users of the tunnel broker of Hurricane Electric. Those have been getting an error message.
In its reply, Netflix customer support, requested, “Yes it’s possible as they work just like the vpn or proxies, there’s method to learn if that’s the motive, do you have a method to turn it away for a minute so we can try the service again?”

The matter is now under discussion in Hurricane Electric newsgroups. Now I am being blocked by Netflix, and after a very long while I eventually figured out that it was because of my IPv6 tunnel. Describes a Canadian user in the Hurricane newsgroup.

“Well of course this issue only impacts traffic coming over the IPv6 tunnel. If I shut down it, then Netflix operates good over native IPv4. I clearly still need my IPv6 connectivity, and do not have any simple method that I know of to specifically block just Netflix-associated traffic from working out IPv6 addresses and using the tunnel,” the user included.
