Google Fiber Heading To SF Quicker After Webpass Acquisition

Google Fibre

Building fiber net is an infrastructure problem — expensive, time consuming — and so San Francisco net devotees continue to pine with no clear delivery date in sight for the quick things. But one supplier is getting a little speed increase.

It was in March that Manager Farrell called for the city’s budget analyzer to discover how possible and high-priced a municipal fiber-optic cable network might be, and that would definitely be a good choice. Yet, now with a brand new business — Webpass, a gigabit broadband supplier — under its umbrella, Google Fiber, a subsidiary company of Alphabet, Inc., looks a likelier stake.
Google Fiber declared in February that it’d be coming to San Francisco, at least in part, serving those small areas where present city fiber connections exist. Now that network has grown with a tiny bit of acquisition play.
“Webpass will stay focused on high-speed deployment of high speed internet connections for residential and commercial buildings, mostly using point to point radio.”
